You deserve to have a beautiful smile, but that can be difficult when your teeth start staining. Hard water, certain food and drinks, and other factors can result in darkening enamel. At Midtown Dental, we provide our patients with teeth whitening services to restore their teeth and help them smile again.
Our goal is to make teeth whitening comfortable and efficient. Our in-office and take-home treatments can address everything from slight discoloration to extensive staining. With our help, you can enjoy beautiful teeth in no time at all.
Causes of Tooth Stains
Tooth stains may occur because of:
- Drinking certain beverages, such as coffee or red wine
- Eating certain foods, such as tomato sauce
Generally, tooth stains happen because of problems with the tooth’s outer enamel. Regular flossing and brushing might slow the process, but won’t necessarily prevent staining entirely. Teeth whitening can effectively remove stains when standard care can’t help.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
At Midtown Dental, we provide two types of whitening treatments: in-office and take-home solutions. These treatments work effectively for both regular and sensitive teeth, though there are a few differences between the two.
Our in-office whitening procedure begins by placing a guard on the patient’s roots and gums. We’ll apply painless, tasteless hydrogen peroxide whitening gel to the teeth and let it sit for one hour. After removing it, you can enjoy a brand-new, stunning smile.
Our state-of-the-art whitening trays can help patients brighten their teeth at home. We’ll start by creating two mouth trays for every row of teeth. Our dentists will provide you with an effective, long-lasting whitening solution that works better than traditional whitening strips or baking soda.
Once at home, you’ll fill the trays with this solution and place them on your teeth for one hour per day. After using this treatment for several days, you’ll likely notice stains disappearing.
Preventing Tooth Stains
Teeth whitening is an excellent way to remove existing stains, but you’ll want to try and prevent them in the first place. Consider doing the following:
- Using a straw when drinking colored drinks
- Rinsing your mouth out after meals
- Brushing your teeth regularly
